A History of Innovation & Excellence
In 1973, NASA asked General Electric to develop a computer system to create high-resolution
graphic images for the Space Shuttle flight simulators. GE responded by designing and manufacturing
the most advanced digital imaging system of it’s day, the GENIGRAPHICS 100 artwork system. This
marked the birth of the computer-generated graphics industry. In August 1982, GE spun
off the product line and the Genigraphics® company was born.
By the mid-1980’s, Genigraphics service bureaus were producing high-impact slides and presentation
materials for virtually all Fortune 1000 companies, every branch of government, and universities across
the country. Genigraphics systems were even used in Hollywood to create special effects for films such as
Tron (1982) and The Last Starfighter (1984).
In 1987, recognizing our expertise in computer-designed presentations, Microsoft® asked Genigraphics
to help develop a new software application called PowerPoint®. We based the design of PowerPoint
on software we had developed internally over many years. The templates, color schemes, clip art, menus,
as well as the underlying routines for handling fonts, shapes, and colors were all dervied from the
Genigraphics system. The entire Microsoft Clip Art Library was licensed from our in-house collection of
images; the world's first set of digital clip art, formerly known as The Genigraphics Reference Guide.

Our partnership with Microsoft over many years has afforded us an unparalleled
understanding of how to produce the highest quality output possible from your PowerPoint files.
Prior to the advent of e-commerce as we now know it, PowerPoint version 2.0 through PowerPoint 2001 included
a Genigraphics Wizard that allowed orders to be placed right from your computer. We are the only company to
have ever been included directly on a Microsoft application menu (File, Send To, Genigraphics). We were also one
of the very first companies to offer any kind of electronic ordering, starting in May 1988, and when we made our
debut on the World Wide Web in 1995 there were fewer than 5000 registered domain names.

Over the years we've become the leading experts in large format color printing
from PowerPoint. Today, Genigraphics specializes in printing research & scientific posters, tradeshow graphics,
retail & display signage, and custom vinyl banners. And while we’ll always be known as "The PowerPoint
People", we regularly print posters from practically all of the major graphics applications and file formats.
In keeping with our history of innovation, we launched our ePosters service in 2003 for scientific, engineering,
and medical research conferences. These popular ePoster sessions have been viewed by tens of thousands of doctors,
researchers, and educators worldwide.
Conference poster sessions typically last only a few days and have a limited audience. It's often difficult to
assimilate the wealth of information being presented in such a short span of time. With ePosters, we offer
a 'virtual' poster session that is always available and always within reach.
You can rely on our years of experience and the dedicated, personal service we’ve become known for. Our goal
is to exceed your expectations by delivering superior quality products and exceptional customer service.
