In the early 1970’s, NASA asked General Electric Corporation to develop a computer system that could create high-resolution graphic images for the Space Shuttle flight simulators. GE responded by designing and manufacturing the most advanced digital imaging system of it’s day, the GENIGRAPHICS 100 artwork system. In 1979, GE spun off the product line and the Genigraphics® company was born.


By the mid-1980’s, Genigraphics service bureaus were producing high-impact slides and presentation materials for virtually all Fortune 1000 companies, every branch of government, and universities across the country. Genigraphics systems were even used in Hollywood to create special effects for films, such as "The Last Starfighter" (1984).

In 1987, recognizing our expertise in computer-designed presentations, Microsoft® asked Genigraphics to help develop their new software application -- PowerPoint®. We designed the PowerPoint templates, color schemes, and clip art, as well as defining many of the underlying routines for handling fonts, shapes, and colors.

Prior to the advent of e-commerce via the World Wide Web, PowerPoint version 2.0 through PowerPoint 2001 included a Genigraphics Wizard that allowed slides and posters to be ordered directly from the application menu (File, Send To, Genigraphics). Our partnership with Microsoft over many years has afforded us an unparalleled understanding of how to produce the highest quality output possible from your PowerPoint files.


Today, Genigraphics offers a full suite of presentation products -- large format color posters, color handouts, overheads, 35mm slides, digital projector rentals, and our popular ePoster sessions for scientific, engineering, and medical research conferences.
